I was thinking of posting some odd bad jokes. so number one.

I contributed a small part to this

I helped out Tomek Ducki with some animation for his visuals and a music video for Basement Jaxx. Yay.


Tomek has lots of great things on his vimeo including his short film Life Line.

Mums Birthday

So it was my Mums 60th birthday a little while ago and so my sister Keely and I came up with this book for her that would eventually reveal the real present which was a trip to Barcelona for the weekend.

Its all printed out Golden Storybook size with a hard cover, yay. One edition only.

Don't know if you can read it all in the photos maybe I'll swap it for the page layouts soon.

It was only when Keely got it back to her flat the night before mums birthday that Aaron pointed out that sixtieth is spelt wrong through out the whole book! Aaaaarrrgh poo. oh well. here it is, enjoy.

Inbetween these pages is a page ripped out. Its basically a joke about us not telling mum about some problems because she'll just worry.

So I have been Screen Printing Backgrounds. Yeah Screen Printing its great, here's a couple. We won't know it they will work until she starts shooting and compositing so fingers crossed.

Long time no post, I know. 

I have been working quite a bit on little jobs here and there. (thank you anyone who has given me a little job, it keeps me sane)

One of the little jobs I´ve been working on lately was animating this festival ident for the fabulous Madga Osinska.

So I have actually been a bit busy of late with one thing and another. I am in the process of trying to put together a showreel and package my dvd amongst other things. 

But whilst I am doing this I am taking part in a little project with Elena. We have a pot of 60 words, 30 spanish and 30 english, we will pick, at random one word from each language and try to draw an image inspired by the words, with a coffee. 

We will try to post the drawings and words each day at andacoffee.blogspot.com for one month, April. If we can. 

I will post again here with news etc asap.

Hi Back Again... I think.

Still here.

So I can't beleive it's been so long since my last post.

I'm still alive and working super hard to finish the film. Our Grad Show is on the 6th of March at the BFi so just have the last things to try and make perfect before anyone can see it.

Until March, then... I'm busy.

Yep you guessed it, painter screwed the file again. woo!

This is one of the problems with Painter. Below is a an almost fully animated character after Corel Painter has decided to chew it up.

This is almost the equivalent of a vcr chewing up the only recording of your child being born.

For some unknown reason, after working on this today and saving frequently (painter has been crashing unexpectedly) this image is all that remains of 70 layers of a characters movement in a scene.

This is not a good day. I have a back up that is missing one days work. I suppose I'll have to it again.

I have also worked worked quite hard today. But still managed to do these. This one is rushed, so rough, deal with it.

Procrastination Issues 27.

If the Cat in the film (Today Only) was more human/cartoony, I'm sure this would be a very different film. His relationships with the other characters could be so much fun.

So the edit is going well and the film is picking up a pace. We have made a few changes but all for the better. It does mean though that I haven't been able to work straight as I had been on the animation and spend time roughing out shots to try something in the edit. Nothing too big though most of the large shots are done these are mostly smaller shots.

in other news...

I'm going to make an effort to not draw myself so much. So just wait for long-haired beardy characters being thoughtful and depressed about film. As well as very bad caricatures of everyone else.

Lets see how long it lasts.

Yeah don't tell Lawrence this is on here. It doesn't look like him and then if anything makes him look about 12.


But we are starting to edit now. Making a few bold changes and then seeing a couple that I had in mind starting to work on the page.

I have returned.

To all of you not reading this, I am back.

I'm not recovered, I'm not relaxed, I'm still neck deep in it and strangely enjoying it.

The diss is handed in, although it took time away from the film. It should be ok, this is an animators impression of how I looked whilst writing my diss. So here as promised are a couple of knocked together frames from the film, to give people visiting this who haven't been working on it and idea of what we are aiming for.

So I am currently trying to finish as much of the keyframing as possible for a review of our work on Tuesday. so I haven't been procrastinating too much (apart from playing my Ukulele). I will add more stuff soon. Still not sure about what I can post so won't put too much of the film here.

Oh oh!! saw Zsolt and Emmauel the other day, they are the Vis Effects guys who are making, texturing and moving the 3D street that will be used in the first shot of the film. Its looks so good. I may be cheeky and see if i can use it more within the film as well just as it could make life a little easier.

And you know what this film still excites me. Each day I am enjoying what i'm doing no matter about how much i moan.

Just to say the ending is yet to be drawn but apart from that i only have 9 shots left to layout. Getting so close now!!!

I had to illustrate this. Its Stuart the Teddy Bears first report. I don't know if I caught the action as Rich Guy Stuart described quite right, there's a bit of story to go with the action. I can't be asked to type it up. You'll have to ask Rich Guy Stuart to tell you if you ever meet him.

Meet Stuart the Teddy Bear, he's a big cuddly ball of brummy bear. Facing each new day with a smile.

Actually Stuart is Rich/Guy re-invented by HyeBin now he is working for her. If we get bored we may write stories of his adventures with the Police breaking down his door each week, near stabbings and muggings in the magical land of Shepards Bush (yes not Sheperds Bush) . In the mean time here's a visual I knocked up to wet your appetite.

He's off to work with HyeBin and then with Phil after! So I could say he will be missed but to be honest he's still here. So I won't say goodbye yet, just see you monday.

Yeah this is my Tiki that sits on my monitor and watches over me. Thanks to Vicky Mather it also has a pair of large boobs with heart shaped nipple tassles.
